Our village San Candido
San Candido is a market town in South Tyrol, Val Pusteria on the boarder to Austria,counting 3200 inhabitants. It lies on 1.175 meteres above sea level.
The river Drava, which springs from the watershed inmids the fields of Dobbiaco, flows through the village. San Candido has to fellow fractions: Versciaco and Prato alla Drava. San Candido counts to one of the most famous and loved holiday destinations in South Tyrol - Alta Val Pusteria..

Churches and chapels
The abbey church of San Candido (Collegiata) is the most beautiful religious building in Romanesque style throughout the Eastern Alps. The building war started in 1143 after Christ and was ended in 1326. The parish church of Saint Michael actually originated in the 12th century but was converted into a unique Baroque style jewel after 1735. This church counts to one of the most beautiful religious Baroque style buildings in Tyrol.
